Think of your favorite celebrity.... I bet you know all about them: where they live, if they are married, if they have kids, what they like to eat, etc. However, if you ever saw them somewhere, they wouldn't know you! How could you know so many details about someone, and they don't even know you exist? It's because you don't have a relationship with them. You have studied the person and know details about their life, but you don't really know them. You just know about them.
Many people know about Jesus. They know who He is, and that He came to die for our sins. Maybe they go to church and hear about him, but still they don't have a relationship with Him because Jesus doesn't know them. In Matthew 7:23, Jesus says, "And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" Jesus is explaining that not everyone who knows Him is a believer. In verse 21, He states that those who know Him, "does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

Many people have head knowledge of Jesus, but they do not go beyond that. You can't just know about Jesus in your head, your heart must also love Jesus. You should spend time with Him by reading God's Word and praying. Through this, Jesus gets to know You! Maybe you are thinking, doesn't He already know everything about me?? He does, but He wants you to share your life with Him. He wants you to rely on Him everyday for everything you need. He doesn't want to be someone you call on in a crisis. He will be there for those, but He also wants to be there for the good times!
Take some time and ask yourself, does Jesus know me? Often people ask if you know Jesus, but I think that is the wrong question to ask. In James 2:19, James states, "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder." Many have believed there is one God, but they never surrendered their life to Him. Don't be someone who knows about Jesus, be someone that Jesus knows!

If you feel like you are someone who only knows about Jesus, don't worry! You are still alive, so there is time for Him to get to know you! Talk to Him. Tell Him you don't just want to know about Him, but you want a relationship with Him that will change your life. If you need help with this, Live Transformed Ministry would be honored to chat with you! We don't want anyone to hear "I never knew you; depart from me..."! Don't wait, for we are not promised tomorrow. Check out our YouTube video for more teaching.
