Do you ever feel like a hamster on a wheel? Everyday is pretty much the same, but not on purpose. You just do the same things over and over, so much so, that you aren't even sure what day of the week it is! Do you ever wonder what the purpose of life really is? Are we supposed to be doing something specific, or are we just here living life trying to figure it out moment by moment?

The definition of physical life is, "The force that makes things grow, move, and reproduce, which the Bible calls the 'breath of life'." Physical life is pretty simple, most of us learned that in elementary school, but there has to be more than that because if there is not, life is meaningless. We live for a time and then we die, end of story. But there is more, because God created us with mind, spirit, and soul. Our spiritual life develops through, "Communion with God, which the Bible says humans were designed for." Well, this seems pretty important if this is what we were designed for. The Bible also says the purpose of life is to know God perfectly forevermore. If we were created to commune with God and know Him perfectly, our lives should reflect this truth. In my opinion, this is why so many of us feel lonely and empty! We don't commune with God and therefore we don't know Him.

Have you ever been in a phase of life where your goal was to figure out the purpose for your life? Maybe it was which college to go, what career path to choose, who to marry, how many kids to have, which job to take, where to live, etc. After contemplating and stressing over every detail, you make the decision for your life only to be faced with another decision. Then, you start the process over, fretting over every detail in hopes of making the right decision. In our culture, our lives are defined by what we do and what we have. The measure of our success is largely dependent on the dollars in our bank accounts. However, in God's economy, our lives are measured by how much we love Him!

John Piper communicates it perfectly on his podcast Desiring God: What is the Meaning of Life. He states, "The meaning of life, according to that word, God’s word, is to know God as he really is; and to enjoy him and all that he is for us in Christ; and to reflect in this dark world some of the light that he has shown to us when Christ, the very Son of God, died in our place, precisely that we might know God and enjoy God in spite of our sin; and then one day to see him and know him perfectly unendingly. Let me say it again. The meaning of life is to know God, and to enjoy God, and to reflect some of the beauty of God as we know him in Christ, and one day to see him perfectly and unendingly enjoy him." Reread that and take a moment to let that settle in your spirit. Jesus died, so I could spend my life getting to know God and enjoy Him in spite of my sinful nature! How well are you doing that? If I'm honest with myself, the time in my day is spent on so many things that are not nearly as important as my time with my Heavenly Father.

If you are struggling in life, seek God! He wants to know you and for you to know Him. Life in this world is hard. However, God is gracious to us! Paul encourages us in Romans 8:18, “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Eternity with God is worth the struggles we face. Later in 2 Corinthians 4:17, Paul states, “This light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison." Eternal glory should be the driving force in our life. Knowing that one day we will be complete and made whole in the presence of our Creator.

Live Transformed Ministry wants to encourage you today, no matter where you are on this journey called life, breathe and rest! Let God be your purpose in life and stop striving for earthly treasures! Let His presence and love overwhelm you! If you have drifted away from Him, turn around and run towards Him. If you don't know Him, talk to someone who does who can help you learn more about what a relationship with God looks like. God's love can fill any hole in your heart and restore any hurt in your life! Don't let the world lie to you and tell you are not good enough, God created you! That makes you good enough, and worthy of a life of purpose seeking Him!

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Romans 12:1-2
